| About Us
Reuse-iT Plus is part of the Lighthouse Furniture Project Limited, a registered Charity in the UK and follows in the footsteps of FRP-REUSEiT, a similar project that successfully ran in East London from 2004 to 2009.
In that 5 year period, more than 1450 PCs were received and over 950 of these re-used for the benefit of over 140 Charities, Community Groups and Volunteer Organisations and their service users. This in turn saved that sector from purchasing new equipment, which would total in excess of £500,000.00
The original team behind FRP-REUSEiT, Steve Nicholls and Michael Kushin are still involved with this project, having taken seats on the management committee and provide advice and guidance to the current Project Manager, Paul Needham who was a computer engineer with the FRP-REUSEiT project.
Reuse-iT Plus is based in Hutton, Essex and as part of the Lighthouse Furniture Project, receives support and guidance from them in their capacity as a registered charity and successful social enterprise. We operate in partnership, predominantly in and around South Essex and North-East London.
We accept redundant computer equipment and peripherals from individuals and companies, then in line with the WEEE & RoHS directives, we rebuild them and introduce them back into local Charities, Community Groups and Voluntary Organisations.
Our prime objective, with regard to the organisations we supply computers to, is that they are UK based (mainly in and around London and Essex) supporting local communities.
We are supported by many volunteers. Some help us for the good of the local community, some come on Government funded work experience schemes and some just come because they like what we do and get to play with large amounts of computer equipment.
Reuse-iT Plus is a successful, proactive computer recycling project that now supplies a rebuilt PC within 4 to 6 weeks of a customer request.
